To become an IJEC Certified Supplier, the IJEC member must complete the following activities:
1. Locate an independent sampling service. Provide other IJEC member companies with information about the independent sampling company. E-mail is acceptable for this notification. Once approval is obtained (no response from notified IJEC member companies is interpreted as approval), the selected company can be used.
2. Commission the approved sampling service to withdraw samples from five (5) different lots of jojoba oil packaged and ready for shipment. The samples are collected according to the Product Sampling Procedure. The lots to be sampled may be composed of either Golden or Lite jojoba oil shipments, or a combination of the two types. The sampling service fee is the responsibility of the IJEC member company.
3. Samples will be forwarded to an independent testing laboratory for analysis by the sampling service. The laboratory will conduct the specified analysis and compare the results to IJEC quality specifications. The laboratory will issue a sampling report to the IJEC member company using the Certificate of Analysis format and Certificate of Analysis Form specified by IJEC. IJEC will be billed directly by the independent testing laboratory for testing fees. In turn, IJEC will bill the member company, who is responsible for these fees.

4. Summarize the data from the independent testing laboratory. Once the test result data is available, the IJEC member company will summarize the data from the independent testing laboratory's reports onto the IJEC application/recertification form, indicating that this data is for application. The IJEC member company will return the completed application/recertification form along with the independent testing laboratorys COAs to the laboratory for review and approval.
5. The independent testing laboratory will review the submitted documents and make a decision based on the data provided. The independent testing laboratory has the option to request additional data from the applicant if they find it necessary.
6. Certification is granted. When five (5) different lots of jojoba oil from an IJEC member company are found to meet IJEC specifications, the IJEC member will become an "IJEC Certified Supplier." When certification-status is granted, the laboratory will notify IJEC and the IJEC member company. The IJEC Certified Supplier will then have permission to begin using the IJEC quality seal on documents as desired and for so long as annual re-certifications are obtained.
7. If certification-status is denied, the independent testing laboratory will provide a report identifying the corrections the applicant must make before reapplying.
